One of my favorite things to enjoy in autumn is a trip to the apple orchard! A beautiful Sunday drive, soft sunshine, and happy kids make a great day! That is exactly what we got yesterday when we visited Swanson's Mountain View Apple Orchard and Distillery! The orchard is located just about 15 minutes from the B and B, in Corvallis, Montana. The drive south from the inn, along East Side Highway, is very pleasant. We found the orchard perched right in between the Sapphire and Bitterroot Mountain ranges, making a perfect panoramic view! The route to the orchard is dotted with cattle, goat, and sheep ranches that remind you, you are definitely in Montana!

Swanson's Mountain View Apple Orchard is 4th generation family owned. When we arrived, Lukas and Julie were there to greet us, share recipes, explain the varieties of apples, and the history of the orchard. We also got a great explanation of the Distillery products they make, including the Bitterroot Heritage 3 year old Apple Brandy. For more information about the orchard, their recipes or their products, visit their website or like their facebook page:

We came home with two bags of perfect apples, a bottle of Apple Brandy, and one of their signature apple recipes! The Swanson family is dedicated to providing, "the best flavored, highest quality apples in the northwest".  All of our apples were perfect! We decided to try the recipe for Apple Pinwheels for today's guest breakfast. The recipe uses ingredients we had on hand and it was easy to follow. I use a high quality Montana wheat in all of my baking, which gives a beautiful rise on all of our breads and pastries. We served these fabulous pinwheels alongside Kevin's hearty omelet (ham, cheddar, mushrooms, onion, and green peppers), a high quality bacon, and a cup fruit salad (consisting of the Early Gold apples and oranges). The Pinwheels turned out perfectly and were given great reviews from our guest. The recipe is as follows:
